BIKE ART – 10.09.10

Oct. 9, 2010 – Foggy Windows Gallery. 558 E. 2nd St. Pomona, CA 91766
6pm – 10pm During Downtown Pomona Artwalk

The inland empire always seems to be over shadowed by the hype of Los Angeles. The bicycle culture in the inland empire is one of those groups that feels this suppression. In Pomona a few cycling nuts are trying to change this for the better, by mixing the feel of the downtown area, bicycles and the art that is reflected by ridding! This collection of local artists from Upland, Riverside, Rancho Cucamonga, and even riders that have since moved to Los Angeles  but keep their roots here in the IE, is being showcased during Pomona’s monthly  Artwalk.

On October  9th starting at 6pm the wheels will being rolling to come see a mix of medias presented all by cyclists, photography, watercolor, stencil/wood work, and even a bit of vinyl spinning. Everything in this show will be geared around cycling. There will be vintage bikes on display that are over  100 years old, as well as some of the newest styles of bikes, fixed freestyle.  Bicycles in general are becoming more of a presence in our community and all the support to these local artists should be a goal to anyone locally.  This show will be organized by cyclists for cyclists and to get the art community a little more in-tune with a very practical way of transportation. Cycling is a part of urban living and will continue to be so, ride down show off your bike and get a look into a few people’s world of ridding.
